This cynical world in which we live

I have just received a telephone call from a man claiming to be from Signature Regency Holdings. He spoke very quickly, asked me to write something down, and started to talk about petroleum shares and business opportunities. It all sounded very promising.

However, I loused up my chance to make a fast buck by telling him that I felt that one of us was clearly wasting the other’s time and then hanging up the phone.

What has rendered our society so barren of soul that we cannot trust a random stranger over the telephone?

How interesting that you blame your poor treatment of this man on society!!!

I thought that you were a liberal, and believed in the responsibility that comes with freedom.

You are right, of course. Whatever has happened within society, responsibility for refusing to hand over my bank details lies entirely with me.
